Abcuro, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing protein-based treatments for serious autoimmune and cancer indications modulated by cytotoxic T and NK cells that express the inhibitory immune checkpoint receptor KLRG1 (killer cell lectin-like receptor G1). The company is advancing ABC008, a first-in-class anti-KLRG1 antibody designed to deplete cytotoxic T cells that attack healthy muscle tissue in patients with inclusion body myositis (IBM), into clinical studies.
Position Summary:
Abcuro is looking for an energetic and talented individual to join and play a key role in our growing Finance Team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, responsibilities of the Associate Director / Director of R&D Finance will include managing budgets for clinical trials, programs and functions, providing operational thought leadership and implementation of new processes and systems, and partnering with employees across the organization. This role will contribute to overall financial planning and analysis for the company, and will support assessment of business development opportunities. This role requires detail orientation and analytical skills, with the ability to see the bigger business picture. The successful candidate will have exceptional business collaboration skills with an eye towards process improvements and be able to provide insightful analysis to drive decision-making.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and administer the Company annual budget, forecast and long-range plan
- Partner with Accounting team to prepare financials at a company level for budgets and forecasts, monthly and quarterly closes as well as budget-to-actual variance analysis
- Establish strong relationships within the Abcuro R&D organization to serve as key finance business partner to functions, including CMC, Clinical and key external stakeholders
- Provide support to R&D functions including budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and resource management
- Actively participate in FP&A initiatives, including seeking out opportunities for process improvements and ad hoc analysis to support decision making
- Play key role in implementation of budgeting and planning system
Requirements:
- B.S. in Finance or Accounting a minimum of 7 years of work experience in finance
- Experience in biotech / pharma/ life sciences R&D finance
- Knowledge of drug development process and life sciences industry is required
- Proven track record of leading financial processes, including budgeting and forecasting
- Proven business partnering skills and experience working in cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
- Superior Excel and advanced PowerPoint skills
- Experience with NetSuite or implementing a budgeting system is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Location: Newton, MA
Abcuro has a strong preference for locally based candidates who can work from our offices at least once a week. There is a requirement for this person to come to the office for monthly meetings to go over the financial results of the company.
