Abcuro, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing protein-based treatments for serious autoimmune and cancer indications modulated by cytotoxic T and NK cells that express the inhibitory immune checkpoint receptor KLRG1 (killer cell lectin-like receptor G1). Position Summary
Abcuro, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team and engage in a wide variety of activities. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position primarily focuses on processing Accounts Payable invoices and contributing to the month-end close process. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an individual early in their accounting career to gain hands-on experience and build a strong foundation in accounting practices. This role will require the incumbent to be in the office approximately three days/week for the first three months during the training and orientation period, and then can be remote for up to four days/week afterward.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Obtain necessary approvals and ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries and discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, including reconciliations of cash, credit cards, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, etc.
- Reconcile and analyze accounts related to accounts payable.
- Processing employee expense reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist in preparing documentation for external audits and corporate tax return filings (i.e. 1099s).
- Perform other duties as needed.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Accounts payable experience is preferred; Biotech/Pharma experience a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, goal-driven, team environment where collaboration is key.
- Ability to independently establish priorities, balance demands between multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing invoices.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and month-end close processes.
- Experience working with NetSuite is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
